Habenaria vidua C.S.P.Parish & Rchb. f., Trans. Linn. Soc. London 30: 140, 1874. Types:— MYANMAR. Mon State: Mawlamyine District, Parish 223 (lectotype K, designated here; isolectotype: W-R 1618; icon. W-R 11146). Syntype: same loc., Parish 116 ( K)

Specimens examined:— KAYAH. Loikaw District : 1320 m, 21 Aug 2017, Tanaka et al. MY2655 ( TNS) . MON. Mawlamyine District : types cited. Also reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 81), but we have not seen material from this area.

Distribution:— Myanmar and Thailand.

Notes:— Seidenfaden designated Parish 223 as type, but this was not an effective lectotypification as he did not specify the herbarium where the type is held (he cited two herbaria with this collection). We therefore designate the specimen at K as lectotype. W-R 1618 has both Parish numbers written on it plus a plant and a leaf; it is not possible to ascertain which number goes with which specimen. A photo identified as H. propinquior Rchb. f. (an Australian species) in Nyan Tun (2014: 305) seems to represent H. vidua .
