Homotypic synonyms: Gastrochilus curvifolius (Lindl.) Kuntze, Revis. View in CoL Gen . Pl. 2: 661, 1891. Ascocentrum curvifolium (Lindl.) Schltr., Repert. View in CoL Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. Beih. 1: 975, 1914. Type:—‘CEYLON’ (likely of Myanmar origin). Macrae 87 (holotype: K- LINDL).

Heterotypic synonyms: Saccolabium rubrum Lindl. , Gen . Sp. Orchid. Pl.: 222, 1833. Ascocentrum rubrum (Lindl.) Seidenf., Opera Bot. 95: 312, 1988. Vanda rubra (Lindl.) L.M.Gardiner, Phytotaxa 61: 51, 2012. Type:— MYANMAR. Mon State: Mawlamyine District, Wallich, Numer. List: no. 7310A (lectotype K-LINDL, designated here; isolectotype: K-W).

Saccolabium curvifolium Lindl. var. luteum B.S.Williams, Orch. -Grow. Man., ed. 6: 565, 1885. Type:— MYANMAR. Mon State : Mawlamyine District, cult. Williams s.n. (not located).

Specimens examined:—? MYANMAR. Type. YANGON. Central part: 30 m, 6 Mar 1948, Po Khant 164 ( RAF) , det. herbarium DD. MON. Mawlamyine District: types; same loc., Wallich, Numer. List : no. 7310 B ( K-W) ; same loc., 1834, Griffith 356 ( K-LINDL) ; same loc., 1834, Griffith s.n. ( K) ; same loc., Parish 4 (icon. K) . TANINTHARYI. Dawei District: Mar 1901, Mokim 454 ( AMES, BM det. L. M. Gardiner & M. Motes, P). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Griffith s.n. ( P) , det. G. Seidenfaden, ident. uncertain. Reported from Mandalay and Bago regions by Kress et al. (2003: 65; as Ascocentrum curvifolium ), but we have not seen material from these areas .

Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, perhaps northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and probably southwestern China.
