Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and southwestern China.

Notes:— One week after N.E. Brown proposed Vanda parishii var. purpurea ( Brown 1883: 307) , Reichenbach (1883b: 340) declared it the same as his var. marriottiana . Apparently, both plants ultimately had the same source.
