Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, northern Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and southwestern and southern China.

Notes:— PO has suggested that this species is confused with S. hainanensis (Rolfe) Schltr. , a broader-leaved species (figured as S. gemmata by Seidenfaden 1988: 72). This taxon too can be expected to occur in Myanmar.
