Specimen examined:— KACHIN. Putao District : 1525−1830 m, 15 Nov 1937, Kingdon-Ward 13458 ( BM). Distribution :— The eastern Himalayas , northeastern India, northern Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and southwestern and southern China. Note:— The cited specimen has larger flowers than usual for the species .

Basionym: Eria summerhayesiana A.D.Hawkes & A.H.Heller , Lloydia 20: 132, 1957. Type:— MYANMAR. Probably Tenasserim: Apr 1870, ex Parish s.n., cult. RBG Kew s.n. (lectotype: Bot. Mag. 97: t. 5910, 1871, designated here).

Homotypic synonyms: Eria decipiens Summerh., Bull. Misc. Inform. Kew 1929: 307, 1929 , nom. illeg. [non Schltr. 1911]. Conchidium summerhayesianum (A.D.Hawkes & A.H.Heller) Ormerod , Taiwania 57: 119, 2012.

Eria extinctoria auct. non (Lindl.) Oliver: Oliver, Bot. Mag. 97: t. 5910, 1871.

Specimens examined:—? TENASSERIM. Type; same loc., Parish 74 (icon. K) .

Distribution:— Endemic.

Notes:— Summerhayes admitted that there were no specimens of this species when he described it. We are now selecting plate 5910 in Botanical Magazine as lectotype .
