Subfamily Austrobalaninae Newman and Ross, 1976

Diagnosis: Austrobalanids with arborescent interlaminate figures; parietes with or without internal chitinous stringers; radii solid, narrow or obsolete.

Distribution and age: Littoral, moderate energy environments. Eocene to Recent: Southwest Pacific. Remarks: The Austrobalaninae comprises Austrobalanus (the type for the subfamily) and Epopella (Table 2).
