( Figs 18–30 View FIGURES 17–30 )
Penia sucinea Schimmel, 2001: 226 .
Remark. This easily recognizable species was described based on a single male specimen from northern Vietnam: Lào Cai Province, Hoang Lien Son (22°18–23’N, 103°49–54’ E, 1100–2400 m a.s.l.). ( Schimmel 2001). Here we report the second known specimen of this species, describe its male terminal abdominal segments, and redescribe the aedeagus. These structures are first figured here ( Figs 24–30 View FIGURES 17–30 ). For more information see Schimmel (2001) and Kundrata et al. (2018).
Material examined. Male, “ VIETNAM, Lao Cai Prov., 5 km W of Cat Cat, 2050 m, 22°18.337’N, 103°49.291’E // 15.III.1998, No. 17, at light, L. Peregovits & T. Vásárhelyi” ( HNHM).
Male terminal abdominal segments and genitalia. Tergite VIII ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 17–30 ) wider than long, sides slightly concave, apically sub-truncate, finely punctate. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 17–30 ) transverse, more than twice as wide as long, partly membranous, posteriorly trisinuate. Tergite IX ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 17–30 ) about 1.3 times as long as wide, sides equally rounded, narrowed before apex, finely punctate and sparsely covered with fine, short pubescence, with several long setae laterally and near apex. Tergite X ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 17–30 ) about twice as long as wide, apically partly membranous. Sternite IX ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 17–30 ) elongate, almost three times as long as wide, rounded apically. Aedeagus ( Figs 28–30 View FIGURES 17–30 ) more than four times as long as wide. Median lobe reaching beyond parameres, with basal struts oriented basad; median lobe slightly curved near apex from lateral view ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 17–30 ), subparallel-sided for most of its length in dorsal view ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 17–30 ), apically abruptly narrowed, apex narrowly rounded. Paramere gradually slightly narrowed toward apex, slightly curved in lateral view, with subapical hook, apex pointed. Phallobase short, U-shaped.
