Agetocera descedens [sic]: Yang et al., 2001: 113.
Description. Length 12.7–14.9 mm, width 6.1–7.5 mm (n=12). General color (Figs 1–4) yellowish brown; antennomeres IX–XI black; apical half of tibia and tarsi darkened, two apical tarsomeres dark brown; elytra dark bluish-metallic. Pronotum transverse, about 0.6–0.7 times as long as wide. Elytra wide, about 1.4–1.5 times as long as wide, widest at apical 1/3.
Male. Antenna (Figs 1, 9) short, not extending to middle of elytra, antennomere II short, subequal to V– VII in length, antennomere III long, 2 times as long as antennomere II, antennomere IV slightly shorter than III, slightly longer than V, antnnomeres V–VII widened apically, antennomere VIII strongly swollen, about 2.5 times as long as III, antennomere IX (Fig. 15) articulated towards mesal edge on apex of VIII, cylindrical but laterally twisted at base, glabrous area oblong, from apical 1/3 extending near base, antennomere X subequal to IX, antennomere XI longest, about 1.3 times as long as X. Front and middle tarsomere I relatively wider and shorter than females. Abdominal ventrite V (Fig. 18) trilobed, apex of median lobe truncate, apices of lateral lobes obliquely truncate, base of median lobe concave. Genitalia ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 22 ) asymmetric, with a erected process behind base of gonopore, apically pointed and directed downwards; apex rounded and slightly emarginated towards left; endophallus with apical spiculae projected from base of gonopore, slender and curved inwards, horn-like; median and basal spiculae slender and laterally flattened.
Female. Antenna (Fig. 10) filiform, relative length of antennomeres II–XI about 1.0: 1.5: 1.7: 1.7: 1.7: 1.7: 2.4: 2.2: 2.6: 4.4. Apical margin of abdominal ventrite V (Fig. 19) truncate, slightly bisinuate at middle. Abdominal tergite VIII (Fig. 23) composed of two separated, well sclerotized sclerites, transverse and widest at middle; hairs appearing at anterior half, denser near anterior and mesal margins. Receptacle of spermatheca (Fig. 24) shorter, and wider than pump; pump long and strongly curved. Gonocoxae (Fig. 25) very close, short and cylindrical, apex with dense setae, one of them being extremely long. Bursa-sclerites composed of several small circular sclerites and one longitudinal and irregularly margined sclerite (Fig. 26).
Diagnosis. This species is easily distinguished from other Taiwanese members of the genus by its larger body and wider elytra, and the structure of male and female genitalia.
Type material. Not examined. Agetocera discedens was described based on unspecified number of females. No type specimen was found in Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt–Universität Berlin ( Germany) where the Weise´s collection is deposited.

Distribution. Taiwan (Fig. 35). This is the most common and widespread species of Agetocera in Taiwan based on literature, specimens examined, and field experience of the senior author.
Host plants. Cucurbitaceae : Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino , Thladiantha nudiflora Hemsl.ex Forbes & Hemsl. , Trichosanthes cucumeroides (Ser.) Maxim. ex Fr. & Sav. and T. laceribracteata Hayata. Adults also visit flowers of Hydrangea angustipetala Hayata (Saxifragaceae) .
