Melalgus feanus (Lesne) View in CoL

Heterarthron feanus Lesne, 1899: 634 .

Melalgus feanus (Lesne) View in CoL : Rai, 1967: 25.

Taxonomy. Both sexes were described by Lesne (1899) from specimens collected in Myanmar. The species was redescribed and illustrated by Rai (1967) from specimens collected in the north-eastern Indian states of Assam and Uttarakhand. Photographs are included by Borowski & Węgrzynowicz (2012), and Zhang et al. (2022). The species can be distinguished from the other Oriental species of Melalgus by the lack of lateral carinae on the elytra.

Distribution. China (Zhejiang), India (Assam, Uttarakhand), Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam ( Liu 2021).

Biology. Gardner (1933) bred and described larvae from Mallotus philippinensis (Lam.) Müll.Arg. (Euphorbiaceae) . Beeson & Bhatia (1937) collected the beetles from caged wood of an unknown tree species in May.
