M a t e r i a l. 2 incomplete leaves/leaflets, impressions

PA 1628.

D e s c r i p t i o n. Leaves/leaflets incomplete, lamina elliptic and obovate, 41 and 93 mm long, 19 and 21 mm wide, base cuneate, apex shortly attenuate, margin entire or? finely crenulate in apical part, venation brochidodromous or semicraspedodromous, midrib straight, secondary veins subopposite to alternate, numerous, originating at 40° to 60°, looping, intersecondaries parallel, venation of higher order not preserved.

R e m a r k s. The leaves/leaflets resemble Carya leaflets based on the lamina shape, size and numerous secondary veins, however a typical margin is not preserved. On the other hand, an affinity to Lauraceae or Leguminosae cannot be excluded due to the resemblance in shape, a relatively distinct midrib and the “evergreen” character of the leaf/ leaflet lamina.
