Torodora canalis Park View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 A-G)
Type material. Holotype: male, LAOS: Champasak Prov., E-Tu Water fall, 15°11’06’’N 106°06’10’’E, 896 m, 28 vii 2019, leg. leg. YS Bae, MJ Qi, DJ Lee, TG Lee, YB Cha, JH Ko, CM Jang; gen. slide no. CIS-8112 GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1♂, same data as the holotype, gen. slide no. CIS-8113 GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. This new species is superficially similar to T. barathrona Park , sp. nov., but it can be distinguished from the latter by i) the antenna without distinct annulations; ii) the forewing with a large, elliptical, blackish patch before the middle which is arising from below the costa and reaching to the inner margin, and smaller one at the end of the cell, with the termen just oblique; iii) the male genitalia are quite different, with the valva slightly concave on the ventral margin and the juxta with well-developed latero-caudal processes.
Description. Male ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 A-C). Wingspan 11.0 mm. Head: Dark brown dorsally, with grayish orange, rough scales laterally. Basal segment of antenna elongated, orange gray, dark brown on anterior and posterior surface; flagellum pale orange white, lacking annulations. Second segment of labial palpus thickened, brownish gray on outer surface; 3rd segment strongly upturned, as long as 2nd segment, blackish ventrally. Thorax: Tegula with black scales along anterior margin; thorax brownish gray dorsally. Hind tibia with black rough scales above. Forewing ground color brownish gray, scattered with dark-brown scales; a large, elliptical, blackish patch before middle, which is arising from below costa and reaching to inner margin; and smaller one located between costa and lower margin of cell near 2/3 of wing, surrounded by grayish orange scales; postmedian white line not developed; apex more or less obtuse; termen oblique; fringe concolorous with ground color. Hind wing pale brownish gray. Abdomen ( Fig. 3G View FIGURE 3 ): Spinous zones broadly developed; sternite VIII broad, with slightly sinuate posterior margin.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 D-F). Uncus elongated, slightly constricted medially, with round apex. Gnathos rather short, small. Tegumen weakly sclerotized. Valva long, upturned; costa smoothly concave medially; ventral margin concave beyond middle; outer margin slightly concave medially. Juxta with long, sharply pointed latero-caudal processes, as long as length of juxta. Vinculum banded, heavily sclerotized; saccal zone slightly produced medially. Aedeagus slender, as long as valva, grooved in distal 2/5 ventrally, with several small spines along ventral margin before apex; cornutus absent.
Female unknown.
Distribution. Laos (Bolikhamsai).
Etymology. The species name is derivered from the Latin, canalis (= groove, channel), referring to the grooved aedeagus in the male genitalia.
