Frons: Outline: markedly protruding head outline. Vertex: Sculpture elements: rugae; Sculpture aspect: arcuate; Sculpture density: sparse. Eyes: Size: smaller than half width of vertex (dorsal view); Shape: markedly protruding head outline; Lower margin: in line or below antennal socket; Median orbit: converging ventrally. Antennae: Length: reach to about anterior pronotal angles; Serration: from antennomere 4. PRONOTUM. Shape: visually elongate or square; Sides: sinuate before posterior angles, straight; Maximal width: at posterior margin; Anterior margin: subequal to posterior. Anterior lobe: Development: obvious; Shape: arcuate; Width: broad; Position: at level with anterior angles. Posterior angles: Shape: rectangular; Apex: sharp. Disk: Convexity: strongly convex; Impressions: medial and lateral; Medial impression: anteromedial and posteromedial; Lateral impressions (depth): deep; Lateral impressions (modification): with tomentose patches. Prehumerus: Development: carinal; Shape: bisinuate; Extent: beyond 1/2 of pronotal length; Anterior end: joined with lateral carina; Posterior end: distant from posterior angle or margin; Arc: obvious. Lateral carinae: Interspace: narrow; Convergence: moderate; Junction: absent; Narrowest point: at posterior 1/5– 1/4 of marginal carina; Modifications: submarginal carina anteriorly and posteriorly obliterate. Scutellum: Size: robust; Disc: impressed. ELYTRA. Color: unicolored; Humeral carina: absent. Apices: Arrangement: separate; Shape: spinate; Number of cusps or spines: 1; Position of dominant projection: medial. Pubescence: Pairs of tomentose spots: humeral, medial, apical. STERNUM. Prosternal lobe: Size: large; Position to sternum: markedly declivous; Distal margin: subtruncate. Prosternal process: Shape: subparallel; Sides: straight; Angles: obtuse; Angles (tips): blunt; Disc: flat; Projection (length): protruding distinctly beyond angles. Metasternum: Metasternal projection: flat. ABDOMEN. Tomentum: present. Last ventrite: Shape: with narrow apex. Sternal groove: Extent: on apical ventrite; Shape on apex of last ventrite: arcuate. LEGS. Metatarsus: Length to metatibia: distinctly shorter. Metarsomere 1: Length to following tarsomeres: longer than 2–3 but shorter than 2–4.
Variability. Unknown. The species is known only from the female holotype.
Diagnosis. Agrilus jaechi is distinctive mainly by obviously excavated head and by pronotal sides which are bisinuate before posterior angles. See also key to species.
Type material. Type locality: Indonesia, Sulawesi Utara, Dumoga Bone National Park [= Taman Nasional Bogani Nani Wartabone], Motoyangan [00°29'N, 123°41'E]. Type specimens. Holotype ♀ ( EJCB): “N-Sulawesi 1992, Dumoga Bone NP, Motoyangan (15), leg. Jäch, 22.iv. ” GoogleMaps
Distribution. Indonesia (Sulawesi (Sulawesi Utara )).
