Diagnosis

Soldier. Uniform dark brown to black-brown species with legs distinctly paler than body, frequently yellow; head in full-face view broader posteriorly than anteriorly, posterior margin of head straight; underside of head with few sparse setae or sometimes without; petiole a narrow-pointed scale in profile; hind tibiae without spiny bristles but with a fringe of short setae on the length of the tibial underside; body surface with numerous scattered stiff setae.

Material examined. Fourteen sites: A; 3; 4; 7; 10; 11; 12; 13; 17; 19; 20; 21; 23; 32.

Geographic range. This species, originally described from Yemen, has also been recorded from the KSA ( Collingwood 1985; Collingwood and Agosti 1996), and the UAE ( Collingwood et al. 2011).
