Genus diagnosis: As for the single species.
Etymology: From the Greek agathos (= good, gentle) + pre-existing genus Cranaus . This name is a pun of the closely related Stygnicranaus , which means ‘mischievous’ + Cranaus .
Type species: Agathocranaus innocens sp. nov.
