Genus Allomideopsis Smith, 1990 stat. nov.

Nudomideopsis (Allomideopsis) Smith, 1990 , pp. 241–245, figs. 13–17. Nudomideopsis (in part): Smith & Cook, 1991, p. 577.

Nudomideopsis (in part): Smith et al., 2001, p. 611.

Nudomideopsis (in part): Smith et al., 2010, p. 553.

Diagnosis. Larva: Unknown.

Adults (modified from Smith 1990): Character states of family Nudomideopsidae . Idiosoma elongate oval in shape; flattened dorsally. First coxal plate extending well beyond anterior edge of shield; suture line between third and fourth coxal plate ending medially on posterior coxal group so that fourth plate has an extensive medial edge; fourth coxal plate bearing small projection that completely covers opening for insertion of fourth leg; with suture line at posterior edge obliterated. Genital field bearing three pairs of acetabula that are free in gonopore in males and embedded in ventral shield in females. Pedipalp tibia stocky and slightly expanded ventrally, bearing two slender setae ventrally, one proximally and one distally.

Type species. Nudomideopsis (Allomideopsis) wichitaensis Smith.

Species included. Allomideopsis wichitaensis (Smith) (southern USA) (monobasic).

Distribution. Southern United States of America.

Discussion. Smith (1990) proposed Allomideopsis as a subgenus of Nudomideopsis and this treatment was followed by Smith & Cook (1991, 1999) and Smith et al. (2001, 2010). Here we propose elevation of the taxon to full generic rank based on the autapomorphic elongate shape of the idiosoma and location of the genital acetabula on the ventral shield in females.
