Subgenus Plesiobrachypoda Viets, 1942

Axonopsis (Plesiobrachypoda) : Cook, 1974a, p. 336, fig. 1420.

Diagnosis of adults. Character states of genus Hexaxonopsis . Fourth leg of males with tibia expanded and bearing numerous thick setae.

Type species. Axonopsis claviger Walter.

Species included. Plesiobrachypoda claviger (Walter) ( Sudan) , P. p er i y ar (Pešić & Ranga Reddy) ( India).

Distribution. East Africa and India.

Discussion. Cook (1974a) considered Plesiobrachypoda to be a subgenus of Axonopsis and Pešić & Ranga Reddy (2009) followed that treatment. Here we propose to transfer the taxon as a subgenus to the genus Hexaxonopsis . Cook (1974a) mentioned a third undescribed species of this subgenus from Ceylon.
