Pachyprotasis fulvicornis sp. nov.

( Figs. 3, 4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 34, 46)

Material examined. Holotype, Ψ, Mt. Hengshan, Hunan Province (112°86΄E, 27°25΄N, alt. 700m), 15. 0 3. 2004, Yingke He leg.

Distribution. China (Hunan).

Etymology. The specific epithet, an adjective, refers to the fulvous antennae.

Description. Female ( Figs. 3, 4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ): Body length 8 mm. Body fulvous, yellow to yellow brown are: labrum, clypeus, face below antennal sockets, continuous stripe from inner orbit to lower hind orbit, ventral sides of scape and pedicel, tegula, an arrowheaded spot on apex of mesonotal middle lobe, small central spot on mesonotal lateral lobe, mesoscutellum and appendage except for lateral sides, mesepisternum except upper part, posteroventral corner of mesepimeron, pectus, metepisternum except basal part, posterior part of metepimeron, pectus, medial triangular spots on each tergite, deflexed lateral sides of all tergites, posterior parts of all sternites, ventral margin of valvifer 2, valvula 3 except apex; legs yellow to yellow brown, fulvous are: irregular spot on outer side of metacoxa, apical 3/4 of metafemur, apex of metatibia, tarsomere 1; fore and middle legs with fulvous posterior stripes from base of femora to apical tarsomeres. Wings hyaline; stigma and veins yellow brown.

Labrum large and with acute anterior margin; clypeus roundly incised up to 1/3 of its medial length, lateral lobes acute; malar space as wide as diameter of median ocellus; inner margins of eyes slightly convergent downwards; supraantennal tubercles insignificant, frontal area elevated, inconspicuously below level of eyes in lateral view, frontal ridges round; median fovea ditch-like, extends to median ocellus, antennal furrow deep in anterior half, shallow in posterior half; interocellar furrow deep, distinct, medial postocellar furrow absent; postocellar area slightly elevated, relative width: length = 1.7, lateral postocellar furrow a little deep, divergent backwards; head distinctly narrowed behind eyes. Antennae nearly equal to combined length of thorax and abdomen, flagellomere 1 inconspicuously longer than flagellomere 2 = 1.06; mesoscutellum prismatic, slightly elevated, base of lateral carina distinct, apex round, middle carina of appendage acute. Hind tarsomere 1 slightly longer than combined length of following 4 tarsomeres, claw with inner tooth shorter than outer tooth. Front wing with middle petiole of anal cell 2 times as long as vein R+M; petiole of anal cell on hind wing present, more than half as long as vein cu-a.

Punctures on labrum and clypeus minute, scattered; punctures on frontal area and inner orbit shallow, a little larger, distance between punctures equal to diameter of each puncture, shiny, microsculpture distinct; mesonotum densely and minutely punctured, shiny; punctures on upper corner of mesepisternum scattered, shallow and minute, on lower part indistinct, interspaces shiny and with oily luster, microsculpture distinct; meseanepimeron with distinct microsculpture, mesekatepimeron polished without punctures and microsculpture, strongly shiny; metapleuron polished with minute and shallow punctures, distinctly shiny; mesoscutellum and appendage polished without punctures, lateral part of appendage with inconspicuous sculpture; middle part of tergites with scattered punctures, lateral part more densely punctured, punctures minute, shallow, interspaces with microsculpture and distinct oily luster; punctures on outer side of hind coxa shallow and minute.

Ovipositor sheath shorter than hind tarsomere 1 = 0.8 in lateral view, valvula 3 blunt at apex, longer than valvifer 2 = 1.1. Lancet with 20 annuli (fig. 32), middle serrulae with 2 anterior and 8–10 posterior subbasal teeth (fig. 44).

Male. unknown.

Discussion. The species is characterized by: antennae fulvous except ventral sides of scape and pedicel; head and body fulvous, without distinct black spots, under part of mesopleron yellow white; labrum large and with acute anterior margin. These characters allow it to be easily distinguished from other species of the indica group.
