Harpalus (Ophonus) diffinis Dejean, 1829: 196 View in CoL .
The specimen here designated as lectotype is a male bearing the labels: “ diffinis m. in Gallia merid.”, “ex-Museo Chaudoir”, “ R. P. Pantel ”, “ Ophonus diffinis Dej. G. Colas det.” and “ Lectotype of Harpalus (Ophonus) diffinis Dejean, 1829 design. by J. Serrano ” .
The selected specimen hereby designated as lectotype matches the data of the original description, and its diagnostic characters were highlighted by Sciaky (1987), clearly showing the differences with its relative Ophonus (Ophonus) ardosiacus (Lutshnik, 1922) . Other keys to identify the species are found in Wrase (2004, 2011). The species is currently included in the nominal subgenus, that is characterized by taxa of large body size and rounded posterior angles of pronotum, metallic dorsum, aedeagus with ligula, etc.
It is distributed in Central and Mediterranean Europe and the Levant ( Kataev & Wrase, 2017c).
