Harpalus dispar Dejean, 1829: 267 View in CoL .
The specimen here designated as lectotype is a male bearing the labels: “ dispar mihi in Gallia mer.” and “ Lectotype of Harpalus dispar Dejean, 1829 desig. by J. Serrano”. There is also a paralectotype with labels: “male symbol”, “Gallia mer./ Perpignan”, “ Paralectotype ” and “ Harpalus dispar Dejean, 1829 desig. by J. Serrano”.
The lectotype hereby designated shows the morphology currently considered to represent the nominal subspecies (e.g., Fuente, 1927: 226; Jeannel, 1942: 657). These two authors considered the validity of the genus Artabas Des Gozis, 1882 and included within it Harpalus dispar and H. punctatostriatus .
Harpalus dispar View in CoL includes three subspecies ( Kataev & Wrase 1995): H. dispar dispar Dejean, 1829 View in CoL (West Mediterranean), H. dispar splendens Gebler, 1830 View in CoL (from Balkan Peninsula to West Siberia) and H. dispar elegantulus Menetries, 1832 View in CoL (from Transcaucasus to Turkmenistan).
