Harpalus sobrinus Dejean, 1829: 341 View in CoL .
The specimen here designated as lectotype is a male bearing the labels: “male symbol”, “ sobrinus m. in Pyr. or.” and “ Lectotype of Harpalus sobrinus Dejean, 1829 desig. by J. Serrano ” .
This name has been currently considered as a synonym of Harpalus rubripes (Duftschmid, 1812) , a species that shows red coloured femurs in other areas of West Europe. Traditional works as those of Fuente (1927) and Jeannel (1942) considered H. sobrinus a mere variation of H. rubripes , a criterion also followed in the Palaearctic Catalogue ( Kataev & Wrase, 2017c).
Harpalus rubripes is an Asiatic European element found from China to Portugal.
