Comments: Although Southern’s (1921) record of this species from Chilka Lake suggests freshwater tolerance, Misra (1999) reported a narrower salinity range of 8–12‰ in the Munda River, India; the latter author also reported a second species in the genus, D. dayi Misra from estuaries in NE India, but this second species has yet to be found in freshwater.
