Comments: The widespread distribution of this species at high southern latitudes suggests that multiple species have been reported under this name. Accordingly, it was designated as a species group by Glasby (1999). Although the species is apparently confined to the upper littoral zone of the coast, it is often found associated with freshwater seepage ( Rozbaczylo 1975).
