The paratypes of A. bouyeri sp. nov. from MRAC were recognized as a new species by Burgeon.

DESCRIPTION

Male

Measurements and ratios ♂ (n = 6): LB: 11 – 12.5 mm, lB: 6 – 7 mm; LB/lB: 1.56 (1.48 – 1.68); LP/lP: 0.58 (0.56 – 0.63); LE/lE: 1.10 (1.03 – 1.18).

Body: laterally convex, bent, abdomen slightly convex; totally deep brown or blackish-brown except club of antennae paler; shining with greenish metallic reflection.

Head: clypeus parabolic, totally and strongly reflexed, totally vermiculate like vertex; frons punctate; antennae 9-segmented, club as long as funicle.

Thorax: pronotum relatively rectangular, broader than long, laterally parallel from base to angle, convergent in anterior half; anterior angles surpassing posterior margin of eyes; all margins carinate; disc punctured with short separated deep rounded points, more punctured on lateral margins; median line; impressed point on lateral margins; scutellum triangular with rounded sides, points smaller than its of pronotum.

Elytra: longer than broad; epipleura complete; costa strongly elevated, with short points; striae well marked, formed by a line of separated deep rounded points; humeral calli marked, apical calli obsolete.

Pygidium: triangular and carinate along anal plate, slightly projecting postero-ventrally, totally and strongly punctate.

Hairs: upper side with erected isolated yellowish setae on lateral margins of pronotum; underside with long erected yellowish setae on mentum, erected yellowish setae on sides of metasternum; long setae on disc of sternites, lacking on sides; erected on legs.

Legs: protibia widened and tridentate, apical tooth pointed; larger claw of anterior tarsi widened, cleft and strongly flattened; larger claw of median tarsi elongate, narrow and cleft; larger claw of posterior tarsi uncleft.

Aedeagus: in lateral view, parallel from base to middle part, truncate and sinuate to apex; in dorsal view, parameres parallel and elongate, apex with a concave angle; in ventral view, median lobe surpassing apex of parameres.

Female

Measurements and ratios ♀ (n = 4): LB: 11.5 – 12 mm, lB: 6.5 – 7 mm; LB/lB 1.57 (1.57 – 1.71); LP/lP: 0.57 (0.57 – 0.61); LE/lE: 1.13 (1.08 – 1.23).

Differs from ♂ by: epipleura widened in the basal part, surpassing lateral margins of elytra; apical tooth of protibia rounded and longer, larger claw of anterior tarsi bifid but narrower and not flattened and pygidium not projecting postero-ventrally.

DERIVATIO NOMINIS. Dedicated to Thierry Bouyer (Chênée, Belgique), who collected the holotype specimen .

DISTRIBUTION. Known from Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo.

BIOLOGY. The holotype specimen was caught in the north of the Upemba National Park, on the northern side of the Lufira river valley, in a clear gallery forest escarpment (pers. com. T. Bouyer).

The species was collected in the months November and December.

DIAGNOSIS. Anomala bouyeri sp. nov. is extremely similar to A. caffra Burmeister, 1844 but can be distinguished as follows:
