DESCRIPTION

Male

Measurements and ratios ♂ (n = 12): LB: 10 – 11.5 mm, lB: 5 – 5.5 mm; LB/lB: 1.71 (1.62 – 1.91); LP/lP: 0.50 (0.49 – 0.54); LE/lE: 1.33 (1.25 – 1.47).

Body: laterally convex, relatively elongate, slightly bent, broader in middle of elytra; abdomen concave; short process at base of prosternum rounded; brownish-yellow with vertex, frons, antennae, apical teeth of protibia, all margins and tarsi reddish-brown to blackish-brown, shining.

Head: broad; clypeus strongly reflexed; in dorsal view, lateral margins strongly sinuate from middle part to apex; slightly striated transversely; vertex slightly striated transversely to anterior part, deep rounded points from middle part to frons; frons with deep elongate points; antennae 10-segmented, with club longer than funicle.

Thorax: pronotum subrectangular, broader than long; sides uniformly rounded from base to apex; all margins carinate; anterior angles projecting and reaching posterior margin of eyes; impressed point on lateral margins; scutellum digitiform; separated crescent shaped points.

Elytra: longer than broad; epipleura complete; costae elevated; intervals with close rounded points; striae formed by lines of close deep rounded points; humeral and apical calli slightly marked.

Pygidium: triangular, carinate along anal plate, slightly projecting postero-ventrally and not surpassing apex of elytra, apex rounded.

Legs: protibiae tridentate; larger claw elongate, as long as last tarsomere; pro-and mesotarsal larger claw cleft; larger claw of metatarsus 2 times longer than smaller and uncleft.

Hairs: clypeus with sparse setae inserted in points on sides; pronotum with separated setae inserted in points; elytra covered with short, white, squamous, decumbent setae; separated setae inserted in setigerous points on lateral margins from pronotum to basal part of elytra, close on canthus; sternites with sparse setae inserted in setigerous points; sparse, white, squamous decumbent setae on metasternum; mesofemora with setae inserted in setigerous points, metafemora with short white decumbent setae; longer erected yellowish setae on disc of pygidium.

Aedeagus: in lateral view, dorsally straight from base to middle part, angular to apex, bisinuate ventrally; in dorsal view, parameres slightly narrowing from base to apex, broad and short, laterally slightly sinuate; strongly notched to apico-internal angle.

Female

Measurements and ratios ♀ (n = 13): LB: 10 – 11.5 mm, lB: 5.5 – 6 mm; ratio LB/lB: 1.67 (1.62 – 1.71); LP/lP: 0.49 (0.46 – 0.52); LE/lE: 1.30 (1.24 – 1.35).

Differs from ♂ by: slightly broader; clypeus slightly reflexed and, in dorsal view, not laterally sinuate form middle part to apex; abdomen convex and apical tooth of protibia rounded.

DERIVATIO NOMINIS. Dedicated to Mr. Miroslav Snížek (České Budějovice, Czech Republic) who collected the specimens.

DISTRIBUTION. Known from Kenya.

BIOLOGY. The species was collected in the months November to December and in April.
