7. Kalanchoe magnidens Brown (1905a: 370) View in CoL .

Type:— UGANDA, without more precise locality information, sent to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, by [Mr] M.T. Dawe, material flowered at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, on 20 January 1905, specimen prepared as N.E. Brown s.n. (lectotype, K barcode K000232747 [image available at http://specimens.kew.org/herbarium/K000232747]!), here designated.

Taxonomic notes:—At present the name K. magnidens is treated as a synonym of K. glaucescens Britten (1871: 393) .

Nomenclatural notes:—As “Type:” of the name K. magnidens, Wickens (1987: 39) cited a “specimen from Uganda, cultivated at Kew 1905, Dawe [Morley Thomas Dawe (1880–1943); see Figueiredo & Smith (2021: 49) and Figueiredo & Smith (in press) on Dawe] (K, holo.!)”. Brown (1905a: 370) did not cite any material when describing K. magnidens and there is no indication that he used only the lectotype designated here, N.E. Brown s.n., barcode K000232747, when publishing the name (Turland et al. 2028: Art. 9.1(b )). The name K. magnidens therefore does not have a holotype.

To prevent further confusion, the name K. magnidens is here lectotypified on N.E. Brown s.n., K000232747, held at Herb. K, which may or may not have been the Dawe specimen Wickens (1987: 46) had in mind.
