Material Studied: Holotype ♂: ( Pycanum occidentale holotype / Chandgad, Kolhapur / S. More Leg., 20 June 2016). To be deposited in Zoological Survey of India, Western Regional centre, Pune

Paratype ♂: ( Pycanum occidentale paratype / Chandgad, Kolhapur / S. More Leg., July 2017). Deposited in Modern College , Shivajinagar, Pune, India .

Measurement (in mm): (based on two males separated by /). Total length: 29 / 28 (from tip of the head to the tip of abdomen visible from dorsal side)

Head width at eyes 3.85/3.95, interocellar distance 1.1/1.0, interocular distance 1.75/1.85 length of head along median visible in dorsal view 2.75/2.5; width at anterior inner angles of pronotum 4.0/3.8; width at anterior outer angles of pronotum 12.0/12.5, width at humeral angles 14.0/ 14.5; scutellum width at basal angle 9.0/9.0, scutellum length at median 6.9/7.5; antenna: I segment 0.9/0.85, II segment 3.6/3.75, III segment 3.25/3.5, IV segment: 4.6/4.8; labium: I segment 1.75/1.8, II segment 1.6/1.6, III segment 0.9/0.9, IV segment 1.1/1.2; maximum width of abdomen 17/17.7; Legs: fore coxae 0.5/0.5, fore trochanters 1.5/1.4, fore femora 6.0/ 6.1, fore tibiae 5.5/5.9, fore tarsi with claw 3.1/3.2; mid coxae 1.75 /1.75, mid trochanters 2.25/2.5, mid femora 7.0/7.5, mid tibiae 6.7/7.0, mid tarsi with claw 3..3/3.5; hind coxae 2.0 /2.0, hind trochanters 2.5/2.5, hind femora 11.5 /11.5, hind tibiae 10.9/11.4, hind tarsi with claw 4.0/4.1; pygophore visible length in situ at median ventrally 3.0/3.1; pygophore maximum width measured ventrally 5.25/5.3; distance between emargination points 2.0/2.0.

Colour. Ochraceous; head, pronotum and basal part of corium with black margin; hemelytra lighter. Antennae black; legs reddish brown to black, tibiae darker. Connexivum with posterior half of each segment dark brown to black (Figs. 1, 2). Of the two specimens studied, the holotype is dorsally pale hence black margin of head and pronotum is very distinct, this black lateral margin or black rim of pronotum is almost as wide as width of eye (Fig. 3) [as compared with that of P. ponderosum with a thin black rim, in Fig. 4]. The paratype is dark ochraceous dorsally, especially on pronotum; ventral coloration of both is identical

Ventrally thoracic sterna and abdomen purplish blue with green iridescence (live insect is ventrally dark green, excepting margins). Anterior part of prosternum as well as posterior margin of prosternum ochraceous. Metatho- racic scent gland area (peritremal lobes and evaporatorium), mesopleura and extreme lateral margin of abdomen ochraceous ( Figs.7, 9 View FIGURES 7–10 ) Seventh abdominal segment as well as pygophore partly ochraceous ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7–10 ).
