Gryllus palmetorum Krauss, 1902: 250 .
Type locality: Algeria, Ngoussa palm groves, Touggourt and Mraier.
Distribution: Iberian Peninsula, Canary islands, northern half of Africa, southwest Asia, Cyprus ( Gorochov and Llorente 2001). Species found at Madagascar ( Chopard 1963).
Biogeographic zones: Shoreline, Tellian Atlas, Northern Sahara, Central Sahara. Bioclimatic zones: Humid, subhumid, saharian.
Records in Algeria: Palmgrove in Ngoussa [32°8'N 5°18'E]; Touggourt [33°6'N 6°4'E]; Mraier [33°57'N 5°55'E] ( Krauss 1902). Biskra [34°51'N 5°43'E] ( Chopard 1943). Ouargla [31°57'N 5°18'E] ( Briki 1999). Rouiba [36°44'N 3°17'E] ( Zenati 2002). Akfadou forest [36°41'N 4°34'E]; Tafoughalt [36°37'N 3°52'E]; Rouiba [36°44'N 3°17'E] (Mohamed Sahnoun pers. obs.).
