General distribution. Halobiont species distributed in coastal areas from southeastern Italy, through the south of the Balkan Peninsula to eastern Mediterranean area (e.g., Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Turkey) and western Black Sea coast (e.g., Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine) ( Jansson 1986, 1995; Fent et al. 2011; Grandova 2014a, b; Stoianova & Simov 2016). In Romania, S. mayri is known only from the Black Sea coast ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 16–21 ).
