Type host: Terathopius ecaudatus (Daudin) (Falconiformess: Accipitridae ). Type locality: Africa.

FEMALE (holotype and 7 paratypes). Total body length 650–750. Gnathosoma . Movable cheliceral digit 110–120 long. Each medial branch of peritremes with 2–3 chambers, each lateral branch with 3–4 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 145–155 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield divided into 3 punctate, saber-like sclerits. Length ratio of setae ve: si 1:2–2.8. Setae c1 slightly longer (1.1–1.3 times) than se and c2. Hysteronotal shield not fused to pygidial shield, apunctate, bearing bases of setae d1. Pygidial shield punctate posteriorly. Setae f1 and h1 short (4.5 and more times shorter than f2 and h2). Aggenital setae ag1 about 2.5 times longer than ag2. Genital setae g1 and g2 subequal in length, both 1.5–2 times longer than pseudanal setae ps1 and ps2. All coxal fields punctate. Setae 3c 3– 4 times longer than 3b. Legs. Setae tc”III–IV 2–3 times longer than tc’III–IV. Some of podomers of all legs punctate. Setae l’RI, l’RIII and l’RIV extending to respective genu, l’RII reach anterior margin of tibiae. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 19–20 short tines. Lengths of setae: ve 20, si 40–55, se 180–200, c1 200–255, c2 170–190, d1 170–190, d2 190–210, e2 185–215, f1 30–35, f2 150–180, h1 35–45, g1 and g2 35–45, ps1 and ps2 20, ag1 140, ag2 55–60, ag3 220–230, tc’III–IV 20–30, tc”III–IV 60–75, 3b 35–45, 3c 115–125, l’RI 25, l’RII 40, l’RIII 30–40, l’RIV 30–35.

MALE (2 paratypes). Total body length 445–455. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum punctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3 chambers, each lateral branch with 3 chambers. Movable cheliceral digit 105 long. Stylophore apunctate, 130 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield entire, apunctate, constricted posteriorly. Length ratio of setae ve:si 1:1.6–1.8. Hysteronotal shield weakly sclerotized, not fused to pygidial shield, apunctate, bearing bases of setae d1 and e2. Setae d2 2.3 times longer than d1 and e2. Pygidial shield apunctate. Setae h2 about twice as long as f2. Aggenital setae ag1 slightly longer than ag2. Genital setae g1 situated anteriorly to level of setae g2. All coxal fields punctate. Setae 3c 2.5 times longer than 3b. Legs. Setae tc”III–IV 2.3 times longer than tc’III–IV. Podomers of all legs with minute punctuations. Lengths of setae: ve 20–25, si 35–40, se 85–115, c1 115–120, c2 95–100, d1 15, d2 35, e2 15, f2 15–20, h2 30–45, ag1 45– 55, ag2 35–45, tc’III–IV 20, tc”III–IV 45, 3b 30, 3c 75.

Type material examined. Terathopius ecaudatus (Daudin) (Falconiformes: Accipitidae): female holotype, 10 female and 2 male paratypes ( AMU –SYR.267) (bod.); bird imported from AFRICA to ZOO in Poland, Wroclaw , 1 April 1914 .

Type material deposition. Holotype deposited in the AMU, paratypes in the AMU and ZISP.

Non-type material examined. Accipiter nisus (Linnaeus) (Accipitridae) : 5 females and 3 males ( AVB 07– 0110 011 ); KAZAKHSTAN, Ongtustik Qazaqstan , Chockpak Ornithological Station, elevation 1134 m. (42°30'45.2"N, 70°35'46.2"E), 1 October 2007, coll. A.V. Bochkov. Material deposited in the ZISP and AMU .

Host range. In the Palaearctic region this oligoxenous species inhabiting quills of Accipiter nisus . Distribution. In the Palaearctic region known only from Kazakhstan.
