Type host: Sturnus vulgaris Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Sturnidae ). Type locality: Poland. FEMALE (holotype and 2 paratypes). Total body length of holotype 550–580. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum sparsely punctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 2 chambers, each lateral branch with 4–5 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 145–150 long. Movable cheliceral digit 105 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield weakly sclerotized, rectangular in shape, punctate, bearing bases of setae ve, si, se and c1, anterior margin slightly concave. Setae ve and si subequal in length, setae c1 not significantly (1.1 times) longer than se. The length ratio of setae d2: c1 1:9. Hysteronotal shield weakly sclerotized, fused to pygidial shield, apunctate, bases of setae d1 located at anterior margin of hysteronotal shield, setae e2 situated near this shield. Setae f2 1.7–2 times longer than f1. Genital setae g2 longer than g1. Genital plate absent. Length ratio of setae ag1: ag2: ag3 1.4:1:2. All coxal fields punctate. Setae 3c twice as long as 3b. Legs. Setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 7–9 tines. Setae tc”III–IV 1.6 times longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: ve 20–25, si 20–25, se 170, c1 185, c2 145–180, d1 20, d2 20–30, e2 20, f1 20–30, f2 40–50, h1 25, h2 275, ps1 20, g1 20–30, g2 30–50, ag1 65–70, ag2 50–60, ag3 115–130, tc’III–IV 30, tc”III–IV 50, 3b 25–35, 3c 60.

MALE (1 specimen from type host species from Poland). Total body length 325. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 2 chambers, each lateral branch with 4 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 105 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield weakly sclerotized in posterior part, apunctate. Setae ve and si subequal in length. Setae se situated slightly anterior to level of setae c1. Setae c1 1.6 times longer than se. Hysteronotal shield weakly sclerotized, fused to pygidial shield, apunctate, setae d1 and e2 situated on this shield. Setae d1, d2 and e2 subequal in length. Setae h2 twice as long as f2. Aggenital setae ag1 and ag2 subequal in length. Both pairs of genital setae subequal in length. All coxal fields apunctate. Setae 3c 1.7 times longer than 3b. Legs. Setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 6 tines. Setae tc”III–IV 1.8 times longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: ve 15, si 15, se 35, c1 55, d1 15, d2 15, e2 15, f2 15, h2 30, agl 20, ag2 20, tc’III–IV 15, tc”III–IV 25, 3b 15, 3c 25.

Type material examined. Sturnus vulgaris Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Sturnidae ): female holotype and 2 female paratypes ( AMU SYR.32) (cov.); POLAND, Pomorskie, Kuznica-Hel , 29 March 1999, coll. M. Skoracki.

Type material deposition. All type material deposited in the AMU.

Non-type material examined. Type host species: 4 females and 1 male ( AMU –SYR.32A) (bod.) ; POLAND, Wielkopolska, Jeziory near Poznan , 20 April 2006, coll. M. Skoracki. Material deposited in the AMU and ZISP .

Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting coverts and body feathers of Sturnus vulgaris .
