Type host: Hirundo rustica Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Hirundinidae ). Type locality: Poland.

FEMALE (holotype and 3 specimens from type host species from Kazakhstan). Total body length 1070–1130. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum punctate. Hypostomal apex with 2 pairs of small protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 5 chambers, each lateral branch witch 10–13 chambers. Length of densely punctate stylophore and movable cheliceral digit 225–235 and 165–170 respectively. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield slightly sculptured and sparsely punctate, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se, and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.4–1.7:2.3–2.5. Setae se situated slightly anterior to level of setae c1. Small and apunctate hysteronotal shields present. Pygidial shield sparsely punctate. Dorsal idiosomal setae except vi and ve subequal in the length. Aggenital setae ag1 and ag3 subequal in length, both slightly (1.1–1.3 times) longer than ag2 and about 4-5 times longer than genital setae. All coxal fields densely punctate. Setae 3c 1.4–1.5 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 11–13 tines. Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III and IV subequal in length. Apodemes I fused to apodemes II in middle part of apodemes II. Lengths of setae: vi 110–150, ve 180–190, si 300–375, c2 310–375, se 310–375, d2 300–350, e2 315–375, seate c1, h1, f1, h2 and f2 longer than 320, d1 315–390, ps1 and ps2 45–50, ag1 220–260, ag2 170–220, ag3 230–295, g1 and g2 50–65, l’RIII and l’RIV 50–75, tc’III–IV and tc”III–IV 80–90, 3b 100–125, 3c 155–175.

MALE (3 specimens from type host species from Kazakhstan). Total body length 745–815. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex smooth. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4 chambers, each lateral branch with 9–11 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield weakly sclerotized, lightly sculptured, apunctate, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si and c1, setae se on or near this shield. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.2:4.3. Setae se situated slightly anterior to level of setae c1. Hysteronotal shield present, apunctate. Setae d2 insignificantly (1.1–1.2 times) longer than d1 and e2. Setae h2 variable in length, 4.2–7.8 times longer than f2. Aggenital setae ag1–3 subequal in length. Coxal fields I–IV apunctate. Setae 3c 1.3 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like seta p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 8 tines. Setae tc” of legs III and IV insignificantly (1.1 times) longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 45–50, ve 55–60, si 215, se 215–230, c1 225, c2 205–215, d1 30, d2 35–40, e2 25 –30, h2 105–195, f2 25–35, ag1 120–150, ag2 115, ag3 115, l’RIII 50, l’RIV 35, tc’III–IV 65, tc”III–IV 75, 3b 75, 3c 100.

Type material examined. Hirundo rustica Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Hirundinidae ): female holotype ( AMU – SYR.25A) (sec.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, near Swinoujscie , April 2000, coll. G. Kiljan.

Type material deposition. Holotype deposited in the AMU.

Non-type material examined. Type host species: 4 females, 3 nymphs ( AMU –SYR.25B) (sec.); ENGLAND, North Yorkshire, August 1993, coll. B. Nattress. Material deposited in the NHML and AMU . Same host species: 3 females, 3 males, 1 nymph ( AVB 07–2909 001 ); KAZAKHSTAN, Ongtustik, Qazaqstan , Chockpak , Ornihological Station , elevation 1134m. (42°30’45.2”N, 70°35’46.2”E), 29 September 2007, coll. A.V. Bochkov. Material deposited in the ZISP and AMU .

Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of Hirundo rustica .

Distribution. England, Poland and Kazakhstan.
