Type host: Scolopax rusticola Linnaeus ( Charadriiformes : Scolopacidae ). Type locality: Russia. FEMALE (2 paratypes). Total body length 615–715. Gnathosoma . Anterior part of infracapitulum densely punctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3–4 chambers, each lateral branch with 14–15 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 205–215 long. Movable cheliceral digit 170 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield concave on anterior margin, apunctate. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.6–1.9:2.9–3.1. Setae vi, ve and si with delicate ornamentation, other idiosomal setae smooth. Setae c1 situated slightly anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shield not fused to pygidial shield, bearing bases of setae d1 extending anteriorly to level of setae d2, concave on anterior margin. Setae d1 situated 1.5 times closer to d2 than to e2. Pygidial shield bearing bases of setae f1, f2, h1 and h2. Terminal setae f2 situated distinctly anterior to level of setae f1. Length ratio of setae ag1:ag2:ag3 1.5–1.8:1:2. Genital setae g1 and g2 subequal in length, both 1.5 times longer than pseudanal setae. Genital plate restricted to genital setae. Coxal fields I–IV apunctate. Setae 3c 2.6–2.8 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 6–7 tines. Setae tc” of legs III and IV about twice as long as tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 40–50, ve 65, si 130, se 170–180, c1 160–170, c2 220–225, d1 155–160, d2 145–155, e2 145–155, f1 40–45, f2 290–320, h1 40–45, h2 445, ag1 140–145, ag2 80–90, ag3 140–170, ps1 and ps2 20–25, g1 and g2 30–35, l’RIV 50, tc’III–IV 40–45, tc”III–IV 85, 3b 40–50, 3c 110–130.

Type material examined. Scolopax rusticola Linnaeus ( Charadriiformes : Scolopacidae ): 2 female paratypes ( AVB 05–0715–028); RUSSIA, Sankt Petersburg, Pochi village , 21 September 1999, coll. D. Chistyakov.

Host range. Monoxenous species parasitizing quills of Scolopax rusticola .
