Eastern Indian : 1013501, 35/2294, [53.142°S 117.117°E] GoogleMaps , 850 m.

Remarks: A relatively uncommon but widespread species, found in all the world’s oceans except the Mediterranean Sea, tending to be less common in tropical regions. It occurs more commonly in deeper waters

(750–1500 m) but is sometimes found near the surface. The above records from the Southwest Atlantic confirm its occurrence in the Antarctic Zone, the previously most southerly record being from the south-east Atlantic (52°25’S 09°50’E) ( K.H. Barnard 1932), and extend its range in the Atlantic Sector to 60°34’S. The above record from the Eastern Indian Ocean Sector is just north of the Antarctic Zone but its occurrence in the Indian Ocean Sectors has been confirmed by Zeidler and De Broyer (2009).
