Genus Elektrokleinia ELLENBERGER & FANTI gen. nov.
Type species. Elektrokleinia picta ELLENBERGER & FANTI sp. nov., by present designation. The genus is at present monotypic .
Diagnosis. Elektrokleinia gen. nov. has triangular head, pronotum without lobes and the maxillary palps 4-segmented with the last palpomere strongly securiform, typical of the subfamily Cantharinae . The genus is characterized by the head triangulate behind the eyes and partially covered by the pronotum, elytra with large and superficial punctation arranged in striae and with elytra that leave the last two abdominal urites uncovered (appearing as a kind of pygidium). The hind wings are slightly longer and almost completely covered by elytra. An important character is the last abdominal segment with apex strongly concave in the middle.
Etymology. From the Ancient Greek ἤλεκτΡΟΝ (elektron) = amber, and named in honor of Simone Klein (girlfriend of the first Author) + the Latin suffix -ia. The gender is feminine.
Distribution. Currently known only from Burmese amber of the Hukawng Valley.
