Langona Simon, 1901: 70 View in CoL ; Simon, 1903: 669; Hęciak & Prószyński, 1983: 207–209; Prószyński, 2003: 81–82; Wesołowska, 2006: 237; Haddad & Wesołowska, 2011: 78–79.

Type species. Attus redii Audouin, 1826 .

Remarks. The genus includes 43 nominal species ( WSC 2020), many of them poorly studied and known from one sex only. One of the most important diagnostic characters, the shape of the embolus, in particular its base, is documented for only a few species. The majority of Langona representatives are known from Eurasia and Africa.

The major papers on relationships and distributions of Oriental Langona are: Hęciak & Prószyński (1983), Prószyński (1992), Song et al. (1999), Peng et al. (2008), Caleb et al. (2015), Li & Lin (2016) and Caleb (2020).
