Atractides (Atractides) tahanensis sp. nov.
( Figs. 8A–D View FIGURE 8 A – D )
Type material. Holotype: male dissected and slide mounted in Hoyer's fluid. Malaysia, Tahan River, Taman Negara NP, 7.ii.2009, 4° 23.534 N 102° 23.961 E, alt. 90 m, leg. Smit.
Diagnosis. Integument dorsally striated; glandularia: enlarged by secondary sclerotization; Ac in an obtuse triangle; weak sexual dimorphism of P-2; narrow S-1 and -2 interspace.
Description. General features. Integument dorsally striated. Muscle attachment plates unsclerotized. Glandularia: enlarged by secondary sclerotization ( Fig. 8A View FIGURE 8 A – D ). Genital field: Ac in an obtuse triangle; excretory pore smooth; Vgl-1 separated from Vgl-2. Palp: weak sexual dimorphism; P-2 ventral margin straight, sword seta of P-4 between ventral hair insertions. I-Leg: setae S-1 and -2 distanced, S-1 slender, with truncate tip, S- 2 enlarged, bluntly pointed; I-Leg-6 curved, basally and distally slightly thickened, from the centre to the claw furrow with parallel ventral and dorsal margins.
Male. Idiosoma L/W 390/267; glandularia maximum diameter 38. Coxal field ( Fig. 8B View FIGURE 8 A – D ): L 253, Cx-1+2 mL 112, Cx-3 W 284, Cx-1+2 lL 181. Palp ( Fig. 8D View FIGURE 8 A – D ): total L 218, dL and %L (in parentheses): P-1 23 (10.6), P-2 44 (20.2), P-3 53 (24.3), P-4 69 (31.7), P-5 29 (13.3); L P-2/P-4 0.64. Genital field ( Fig. 8B View FIGURE 8 A – D ): L/W 86/92, L Ac-1-3: 30-34-29.
I-Leg ( Fig. 8C View FIGURE 8 A – D ); I-Leg-5 dL 129, vL 91, dL/vL 1.42, HB 37, dL/HB 3.5, S-1 L 71, L/ W 10.4, S-2 L 58, L/ W 6.3, distance of sword setae at I-Leg-5 12, L S-1/2 1.2; I-Leg-6 L 98, HB 18, L/HB 5.4; L I-Leg-5/6 1.32.
Female. Unknown.
Remarks. Due to the presence of the striated integument, unsclerotized dorsal muscle attachment plates, weak sexual dimorphism of P-2, a narrow S-1 and -2 interspace and a thickened I-Leg-6, the new species resembles Atractides malayensis sp. nov. Atractides tahanensis sp. nov. differs from A. malayensis sp. nov. in having larger glandularia and Ac arranged in an obtuse triangle.
Etymology. The species is named after the Tahan River, where this species was collected.
Distribution. Malaysia; known only from the locus typicus.
