LITERATURE RECORDS: Zavodnik et al. 1978; Zahtila 1995; Zavodnik & Kovačić 2000. REMARKS: The species was reported in the NA by Zavodnik et al. (1978), from Bakar Bay, and by Zavodnik & Kovačić (2000), from Rijeka Bay, and in the CA by Zahtila (1995). Barnich & Fiege (2003) include only a single report of L. hystricis for the Mediterranean, by Campoy (1982), but considered Campoy's identification doubtful and the presence of L. hystricis in the Mediterranean unconfirmed. Since the analysis of the aforementioned Adriatic specimens was not possible, the presence of this species in the Adriatic Sea remains uncertain as well.
