Haemaphysalis semermis Neumann, 1901 View in CoL

Haemaphysalis semermis View in CoL has been reported from southern Thailand and peninsular Malaysia ( Hoogstraal et al. 1965b). Hosts of adult ticks include a variety of domestic and wild mammals, such as carnivores (dogs, tigers, leopard), the Malay bear, tapir, wild boar and deer species ( Hoogstraal et al. 1972b; Grassman et al. 2004). Adults have also been reported from humans ( Hoogstraal et al. 1972b). Nymphs have been reported from rodents, mousedeer ( Tragulus javanicus ), squirrels, tree shrews ( Tupaia glis ) and the Malay civet ( Viverra tangalunga View in CoL ).

The male, female and nymph are described in Hoogstraal et al. (1965b).
