Haemaphysalis papuana View in CoL is known from Cambodia, peninsular Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Its main hosts are wild pigs, but it has also been recorded from honey bear ( Helarctos malayanus View in CoL ) and the domestic dog ( Trapido et al. 1964a; Tanskul et al. 1983; Kolonin 1995, 2009).
The male, female and nymph are described in Trapido et al. (1964a).
