Ixodes granulatus Supino, 1897 View in CoL
Ixodes granulatus View in CoL is probably the most commonly encountered and widespread member of its genus is continental Southeast Asia. It occurs in all of the countries covered in this review, as well as in East and South Asian countries and parts of the Australasian Region ( Petney and Keirans 1994; Guglielmone et al. 2014). Hosts include a wide range of birds and small to medium-sized mammals, and occasionally humans ( Hoogstraal et al. 1972b; Tanskul et al. 1983; Lah et al. 2015). It is found predominantly in forest habitats in a variety of ecoregions (Hoogstraal 1985b; Guglielmone et al. 2014). Nadchatram (1960) presents life history information on a laboratory colony of Malaysian specimens.
Lah et al. (2016) provide useful molecular data for the identification of this species. This is a member of the Ixodes ricinus View in CoL / persulcatus View in CoL species complex ( Xu et al. 2003).
All life history stages are illustrated in Yamaguti et al. (1971).
