Amblyomma crenatum Neumann, 1899 View in CoL
This is a rare species which is host specific for the Javan rhinoceros, Rhinoceros sondaicus ( Bequaert 1933; Kraneveld and Keidel 1956; Kohls 1957). It is considered endangered because it is confined to a critically endangered host ( Durden and Keirans 1996; van Strien et al. 2008). It has been recorded from peninsular Malaysia ( Kohls 1957; Petney and Keirans 1995).
The male and female are described in Voltzit and Keirans (2002).
