Distribution (Map 34): deserts and oases of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. - In Iran: Qazvin, Esfehan, Fars, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, Kerman, Sistan va Baluchestan provinces.
Bionomics. This species is known from lowland areas to 800 m and is on the wing from April to October. Two or occasionally three generations per year. Caterpillars from different localities recorded on Acacia View in CoL spp . ( Fabaceae View in CoL = Leguminosae), Terminalia View in CoL sp. (Comberitaceae), Casuarina View in CoL sp. ( Casuarinaceae View in CoL ), Zizyphus spinachristi (Rhamnaceae) , Populus euphratica View in CoL and Salix spp . ( Salicaceae View in CoL ), Tamarix (Tamaricaceae) View in CoL , Punica (Punicaceae) View in CoL , Malus View in CoL and other fruit trees ( Rosaceae View in CoL ), Avicennia (Avicennaceae) View in CoL and Prosopis stephaniana (Leguminosae= Fabaceae View in CoL ) (Wiltshire 1990: 106). In Bahrain (Wiltshire 1964), the species has been recorded from Casuarina (Casuarinaceae) View in CoL , Zizyphus spina-christi (Rhamnaceae) , Prunus armeniacus , Prosopis stephansiana (Leguminosae= Fabaceae View in CoL ); in deserts larvae can be found often on the branches of Acacia View in CoL and one caterpillar was also found on Nerium oleander View in CoL . In Iran the following host plants are recorded: Egyptian acacia ( Albizzia lebbeck : Mimosaceae ), mudar ( Calotropis procera View in CoL : Asclepiadaceae ), eucalyptus, screw bean ( Prosopis sp.: Papilionaceae View in CoL ), pomegranate ( Punica granatum View in CoL : Punicaceae ), willow, Christ’s thorn ( Paliurus spina-christi (Rhamnaceae) View in CoL , Tamarix View in CoL , Amygdalus spatiodes , Malus View in CoL sp. Pupa hibernates in a silky cocoon between leaves or on bank.
