Genus Hersiliola Thorell, 1870 View in CoL View at ENA
Type species
Aranea macullulata Dufour, 1831 , from Spain.
Diagnosis
Members of this genus are generally distinguishable from other hersiliid genera in the Palaearctic (except Ovtsharenkoia View in CoL , Deltshevia View in CoL , Duninia View in CoL and Bastanius View in CoL gen. nov.) by their short spinnerets (shorter than carapace). Furthermore, males can be diagnosed by their discoid tegulum, long and coiled embolus, and small tegular apophysis which is perpendicular to the axis of the palp ( Marusik and Fet 2009: 89, fig. 4.1−4.4). The females can be diagnosed by their insemination ducts, which are coiled around the fertilisation ducts and uncoiled around the upper loop ( Marusik and Fet 2009: 92, figs 7.1, 7.5, 7.6, 7.12, 8.1 – 8.4).
