Type species — Carphina arcifera Bates, 1872 View in CoL (subsequent designation, Monné, 1995: 22).

Diagnosis. Each side of the prothorax with postmedian tubercle; pronotum without protuberances, with a row of punctures near the posterior margin; mesoventral process as wide as mesocoxa; elytra without centrobasal crest, lateral carinae well-developed. Number of species currently included: 10; in Mexico and Central America : 1.
