Type species — Valenus inornatus Casey, 1891 View in CoL (monotypy).

Diagnosis. Antennae extending about five antennomeres beyond elytra; prothorax broader than long, sides abruptly arcuate toward acute spines placed beyond middle, then abruptly constricted; pronotum with a feeble callus at middle and one on each side beyond apical margin; elytra about twice as long as broad, with long erect setae; femora clavate, tarsi short; antennae and legs without setae. Number of species currently included: 1 ( Mexico).
