REMARKS.—The species is a medium sized (body length 31–34 mm) species with a piceous and brown body. The bright green basal area of the fore wings and bright red basal area of the hind wings make the species very easy to identify.

DISTRIBUTION.—The species has been reported from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Panama, and Peru ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2011a; 2013; 2018c; 2019b; 2020b; Sanborn & Heath 2014). Goding (1925) reported the species from Macas, Morona Santiago province.
