Vertexal foveae large and distinct, posterior edge of foveae located anterior to level of posterior margin of eyes; LE: LP = 2.14: 1. Eyes well-developed, prominent, each comprises about 20 facets. Antennae with scapes thick and large, pedicels larger than antennomeres III, III longer than but as same width as IV, IV–VI subequal in length and width, VII–VIII subequal in width, slightly wider than IV–VI, IX–XI ( Figure 4B View Figure 4 ) strongly clubbed; membranous apophysis on antennomere IX as in Figure 7B View Figure 7 ; antennomere X much wider than long; XI with conspicuously long basal protuberance covered by tuft of long apical setae.

Female. Similar to male in size: BL 1.97–2.03, HL 0.37–0.38, HW 0.45–0.47, PL 0.46–0.47, PW 0.45–0.47. Elytra combined wider than long, EL 0.61–0.62, EW 0.71–0.73, AL 0.53–0.56, AW 0.69–0.70. Eyes comprise about 12 facets each.

Habitat and distribution

Sifted from the mixed leaf litter of a broad-leaved forest. Southwest China (Yunnan).

Etymology

The specific name is derived from the unique form of antennomere XI in the male.

Remarks

The new species is similar to S. appendiculatus in sharing the strongly laterally protruding basal protuberance of the antennomere XI. It can be readily separated by

antennomere XI having a single basal protuberance while there are two in S. appendiculatus , and the structure of the protuberance is completely different.
