Habitat and distribution

Etymology

The specific name refers to the large size of the species.

Remarks

This new species is united with S. montanus , S. grandis and S. tangliangi described below by sharing relatively large size, an elongate head, body densely covered by fine setae and similar structure of male antennomere IX. Sathytes magnus and S. grandis are larger species, no less than 3.00 mm. They may be readily separated by larger size (3.36), antennomere XI being broader, elytra being much wider in contrast to abdomen, and less elongate aedeagus in S. magnus .
