Diagnosis. Xenolepis fissurarta sp. nov. is similar to Xenolepis gabina ; the two species share a distinct deep cleft between veins CuA 1 and 1A+2A and a large anal lobe in the male hindwing, but the cleft of X. fissurarta sp. nov. is much narrower than that of X. gabina . Vein 1A+2A is distinctly curved upward to the outer margin in X. fissurarta , but straight in X. gabina . The male genitalia of X. fissurarta sp. nov. are similar to those of X. dolichoschiza , but those of X. fissurarta sp. nov. have a more truncated apex of the uncus, and the valvae are narrower with a broader, rounded apex.

Description. Head ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–6 ): Lower frons white, upper frons light brown; vertex dark brown with light brown apices, iridescent in angled light; antenna brown except greyish white base; labial palpus porrect, first segment white, second segment curved upward, widened medially, white with large light brown patch from wing base to near apex and from dorsal margin to near ventral margin, apical segment rather short, white.

Thorax: Pronotal collar greyish brown; mesonotum greyish brown mixed with white and greyish white scales, with a transverse narrow dark brown band medially; posterior crest dark brown, each scale with yellowish orange tip; tegulae dark brown with yellowish orange apices, iridescent in angled light, with a large oblique band medially, white mixed with greyish white; male hind tibia ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 ) with a tuft of long yellowish white hair pencils. Forewing subrectangular, wingspan 12.5–14.0 mm in males (n = 12) ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 , 7 View FIGURE 7 ); costal margin evenly curved, rounded apex; termen nearly straight from R 5 to between CuA 1 and CuA 2 then abruptly curved to tornus; costal strigulae well developed, white separated by small blackish streaks; ground color white with diffuse transverse silvery striae and spots; basal 1/3 with dark brown basal patch, posterior margin sinuate, with a narrow transverse greyish brown band at base and few greyish spots, beyond with a narrow transverse dark brown stria extending curved downward from R and connected with posterior margin of basal patch at 1A+2A; median patch extending from costa to dorsum, anterior margin slightly sinuate, posterior margin strongly sinuate with deeply concave medially, light brown mixed with some dark brown stain; terminal patch extending obliquely from costa to termen at M 1 and CuA 1, light brown mixed with dark brown, ventromedially connected with a large, subtriangular, dark brown tornal patch extending to M 2; apical 1/2 of costa with two narrow silvery lines, first line beyond median fascia extending obliquely outward from costa to R 3 and second line beyond terminal patch extending obliquely outward from costa to between R 4 and R 5 and connected with the 9 th strigula; fringe scales dark brown mixed with light brown; underside greyish brown with greyish white spots along costa, termen with a transverse, very narrow whitish line from wing apex to CuA 1 and two short, longitudinal whitish lines between R 5 and M 2. Hindwing ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 , 7 View FIGURE 7 ) subtriangular, brown, slightly paler at wing base with translucent area basomedially, outer margin strongly sinuate with a deep, narrow excavation between CuA 1 and 1A+2A (towards basal 1/5 compared with hindwing length), CuA 2 short, extending to near outer margin, a large anal lobe with shallow excavation below 1A+2A, 1A+2A curved upward from base to apical corner of anal lobe, 3A curved downward to anal margin before rounded anal angle; anal margin sclerotized, folded upward, with modified scales inside fold; underside light brown, slightly paler to base.

Abdomen ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11–13 ): Sternum VIII with a large, weakly sclerotized, V-shaped plate, posterior margin deeply concaved medially, U-shaped, lateral margin rather straight, abruptly narrow to anterior margin, with dense scale sockets posteriorly, except on posteromedial margin, posterolateral corners with an elongate patch of very dense scale sockets. Male genitalia ( Figs. 14 View FIGURES 14–16 , 17 View FIGURES 17–19 , 20 View FIGURES 20–22 ) with tegumen rather high, moderately wide, subrectangular with moderately dense scale sockets laterally; uncus moderately broad trapezoid, slightly narrowed to rather truncated apex, posterior surface with a narrow longitudinal ridge medially covered with sparse setae, anterior surface with dense scale sockets; socii small membranous lobe, moderately dense setae; gnathos arising from apical 1/3 of tegumen, membranous band, each side with a narrow, short sclerotized band basoventrally; tuba analis with a large subtriangular, weakly sclerotized plate projecting upward, lateral edges sclerotized, abruptly narrowed to wide, short, curved T-shaped apex; vinculum moderately wide; juxta subrectangular; caulis moderately long; anellus surrounding nearly basal 1/3 of phallus; broadened cylindrical curved phallus, moderately long, cornuti absent; valva long and slender, slightly curve medially; sacculus small 1/5 of valval length, with a group of dense, moderately dense setae basally, ventroapical 1/2 deeply excavation contains a small group of dense long setae and a wide group of dense, rather short setae, posterior end reaching cucullus base; cucullus long and slender, margins rather parallel, rounded apex, mostly covered with curved bifid spines mixed with blunt spines basally except apical 1/4 densely setose, ventral margin sparsely setose with a row of short spines medially.

Distribution. Thailand: Prachinburi, Chanthaburi, Trat (East), Nakhon Si Thammarat (South), Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani (Northeast), and Uthai Thani province (Central).

Etymology. The specific epithet (fissure = cleft/ artus = narrow) refers to the narrow cleft in the male hindwing.
