Subgenus Corethrella View in CoL View at ENA
This subgenus includes all extant species of the genus other than C. novaezealandiae and all fossil species other than C. cretacea . They may be recognized by the presence of each of the following features: anterior anepisternum divided diagonally ( Figs. 36B, C; not visible in fossils), foreleg claws of male with anterior claw shorter than posterior claw (Figs. 75D–F; not present in some fossil species), fore- and midleg claws each without an inner tooth, anterior fore- and midleg claws of male each without a basal prong (Figs. 75D–F; not present in some fossil species), gonocoxite with dorsal row of setae (Fig. 82), gonocoxite with stout dorsomedial seta (Fig. 82; not present in some fossil species).
The subgenus Corethrella is further divided into species groups (Figs. 141, 142), some of which will surely change with future studies, and these are summarized in the Taxonomic Discussion of the genus.
